Philharmonic chorus auditions at WSU

Chorus auditions for the 2015-2016 Choirs of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra will be held at Wright State University’s Creative Arts Center on Aug. 18, 19 and 20 from 5 to 9 p.m.

The Choirs of the Dayton Philharmonic include the Orchestra Chorus, the Chamber Choir, and the Festival Chorus and comprise the choral performance ensembles of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra.

Church to raise funds to fight malaria

Faith Community United Methodist Church is holding a “Walk’ N Roll” fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 5, to raise funds to fight malaria. Participants can choose from a 5-mile walk or skate or a 15- or 30-mile bike ride.

Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. at the church, 100 Country Club Drive, with the last participants out at 10:30 a.m.

Those under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Proper safety gift must be worn by all participants.

Minimum donation is $10 per person, and participants are urged to find sponsors.

The first 100 registrants will receive an Imagine No Malaria bracelet. Donations will benefit the Imagine No Malaria Project of The United Methodist Church.

Lions Club festival set for Aug. 20-22

The Bellbrook Lions Club will hold its annual festival Aug. 20-22 at the old Sugarcreek School in downtown Bellbrook.

Festivities begin Thursday at 6 p.m. with games, carnival rides, and food. There will activities for children and adults alike.

A parade will travel through downtown Bellbrook at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Festival hours are 6 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday following the parade.

Clay workshop open to families

The John Bryan Community Pottery studio will have a family clay workshop on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Cost of the workshop, held at the studio at 100 Dayton St., Yellow Springs, is $7. It is open to all ages.
