When the new 10,000-square-foot facility is completed, it will feature two drive-thru lanes, and double the lobby and processing space from the current pharmacy, according to a media release.

The pharmacy fills more than 900 prescriptions daily, more than three times what a typical civilian pharmacy fills, according to the Air Force. The base has more than 7,000 military personnel and 100,000 military retirees within 100 miles of the installation, a statement said.
Construction on the facility is expected to be completed by spring 2019.
The new pharmacy will replace an existing pharmacy that was involved in a prescription drug mix-up in 2014.

“This is about entrusting and enhancing the trusted care that we provide to airmen and their families and retirees,” Col. Bradley McDonald the 88th Air Base Wing commander said during today’s ceremony. “They deserve it.”
In 2014, eight instances were found of Tylenol mixed with the muscle relaxant Robaxin, officials said. The Air Force notified thousands of prescription holders of the errors, but an investigation found no patients had been harmed.
An automated dispensing system first cited as a possible link to the mix-up was restarted after investigators determined it was functioning properly and rigorous tests were conducted, officials said then.
