Group seeks used camcorders for youth camp

DAYTON — A local nonprofit group needs used camcorders for a summer youth camp that will teach children how to write, direct and produce their own television shows, films and YouTube-style videocasts.

The i Control Power Girls and Gents Summer Camp runs from June 14 to July 14 and also focuses on scriptwriting, publicity and marketing strategies. The camp is open to all Montgomery County children ages 10-15 who are interested in television and film production. Admission to the summer camp is competitive and costs are based on income and academic performance.

The camp needs at least 30 used camcorders in working condition. Other needed items include tripods, headphones, blank DVDs, used laptop computers and editing software. Donations are tax-deductible.

The camp also welcomes professionals in the media and public relations industry to volunteer to teach classes, provide job shadowing and mentor student participants.

Parents can register their children at www.icontrolpower.org and RSVP to attend a free orientation at 1307 E. Third Street. Donors and parents can call i Control Power at (937) 630-2708 or send an e-mail to admin@icontrolpower.org.
