History

The Dayton area Guardian Auto Glass retail office recently moved from South Dixie Drive to Springboro in late April of this year. The business is part of Guardian Industries located in Auburn Hills, Mich. There are 19,000 employees worldwide. It also is a charter member of Auto Glass Replacement Safety Standards Council at safewindshields.org. There are 40 locations across the U.S.

Products/services

This location acts as an auto-body shop for fabricated glass replacement only.

Installation of: front/rear windshields, back glass, door glass, vent glass, quarter glass, windows and fleet auto glass

Repair of: windshield chips/cracks; rock chips.

On recent hailstorm

“I’ve been in this business for 21 years, and I’ve never seen anything like it. The storm hit on May 25, and I haven’t made any sales calls since May 27,” said Charlie Bosworth, who has worked for the company for the past 21 years. “We typically operate at capacity, particularly in the summer months. We had to bring people in from other states to handle the volume.”

Differentiation

As a charter member of AGRSS, Guardian Glass is required to prove it does good work. All of its products and processes are documented, and the business submits to third party audits.

Price

Guardian Glass is vertically integrated with its own glass manufacturer, so costs are competitive with other auto glass companies. More than fifty percent of the company’s volume comes from rates that are set by insurance companies.

Future plans

“We just hired another customer service representative, and we are in the process of hiring another training technician,” said Bosworth. “Business has been very good; we’re excited about future growth at this location.”
