What’s happening at WGI color guard competition this weekend

Winter Guard International’s World Championships will begin some rounds of finals today as performers continue working toward a first-place trophy.

More than 12,000 performers are expected participate in events this week and next, drawing an expected 60,000 visitors to Dayton. Some have traveled from as far as Japan and the Netherlands.

If you’re a fan of color guard, here’s the schedule for WGI performances the rest of the week:

Friday

Scholastic World Semi Finals: 9 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. at University of Dayton Arena

Independent World Semi Finals: 12:45 to 5 p.m. at University of Dayton Arena

A Class Finals: 5:30 to 10:40 p.m. at University of Dayton Arena

Independent Open Semi Finals: 10 a.m. to 1:53 p.m. at Nutter Center

Scholastic Open Semi Finals: 2:15 to 8:43 p.m. at Nutter Center

Saturday

Open Class Finals: 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at University of Dayton Arena

  • Independent Open Finals: 9 a.m.
  • Scholastic Open Finals: 11:30 a.m.

World Class Finals: 5:15 to 11 p.m. at University of Dayton Arena

  • Exhibition: 5:15 p.m.
  • Scholastic World Finals: 5:30 p.m.
  • Independent World Finals: 8:30 p.m.

Percussion and wind groups will begin performances next week.
