SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Police say quick thinking by an employee with hot coffee prevented a robbery at the Tim Horton's on West North Street.  The employee says she was making tea around 1 a.m. Thursday when a man placed a brown plastic bag next to her on the counter.

He then told her, “come on, honey, open the register and give me the money. I’m not going to hurt you,” according to the report.

The woman spotted a black-handled knife in his coat sleeve. She grabbed the hot coffee and tossed it at the would-be thief.

“I grabbed that coffee. I told him you ain’t getting nothing and I threw that coffee on him and he jetted out of here running,” the employee told dispatchers in a 911 call.

The suspect took off running south from the restaurant. Police are looking for a man in his late forties, 5’5” to 5’8” and weighing about 150 pounds.

Officers are trying to find surveillance tape of the incident.
