Hovercraft debuts as newest golf cart

One local golf course is trying to set themselves apart from the rest with a new addition to their fleet of golf carts.

The Windy Knoll Golf Club is now offering a hovercraft cart, or a hovercart, to transport golfers around the course. The hovercart will cost $175 to rent for a round when it becomes available to the public next month, said course officials.

A trained hovercart “pilot” will operate the vehicle and will travel with the golfers as they play around the course, said News Center 7 sports reporter Mike Hartsock.

On Saturday afternoon Windy Knoll Golf Club held a reveal of their new hovercart and Hall of Fame golfer Nancy Lopez was there to help. The GolfChannel was also reporting live from the course.

The golf course said the hovercart will be available to use starting next month.
