And last October, one of the five females said to have been his victims came forward, police said, and disclosed to them the names of several other possible victims.

Franz, arrested Tuesday night outside his address on Leycross Drive, remains in jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.

Huber Heights police Sgt. Charles Taylor said an incident report was first filed in April 2012 accusing Franz of the sex crimes, but there was not enough evidence to move the case forward.

He was not able to say what happened to change the status in the case that lead to an indictment from a Montgomery County grand jury and the issuing of an arrest warrant on Tuesday.

Taylor said police opened a second case involving Franz in October 2017 that involved multiple alleged victims.

According to the county prosecutor’s office, the five female victims in the cases were not related to Franz, who faces 14 counts of gross sexual imposition of a child, four counts of rape (involving a child) and one count of attempt to commit sexual imposition, according to court records.

UPDATE @ 11:30 p.m. (Sept. 4):

Police arrived minutes later and arrested the man.
