Hurricane Dorian: Wright-Patt to house additional planes from storm

UPDATE @ 12:15 p.m. (Sept. 4):

Additional aircraft have landed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

The Navy E-8 Poseidon aircraft from Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida, arrived Monday to evacuate from Hurricane Dorian’s path.

Plans are also in place to accept more aircraft: Navy E-2 Hawkeye aircraft from NAS Norfolk, Virginia, and Air Force KC-10 tankers from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. These plans are subjects to change depending on Dorian.

FIRST REPORT @ 9:01 a.m. (August 30):

Four aircraft are arriving at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base this morning ahead of Hurricane Dorian’s expected landfall early next week.

The F-15 jets are coming to Dayton from Jacksonville Air National Guard Base, a spokesperson said.

The base has a history of harboring aircraft that are in areas expected to have impacts from Hurricanes or other tropical systems.
