2 hurt at youth basketball brawl in Dayton

Dayton police were called to an altercation among multiple adults at a youth basketball game for 7-year-olds Wednesday night, according to a Dayton Police report.

The altercation occurred around 6 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Dayton on West Stewart Avenue. The two victims, a 35-year-old male and 17-year-old male, stated that a coach for the other team began arguing with the victims’ wife and mother, which prompted them to intervene.

Upon approaching the other coach, the two victims were punched in the face by the suspects and then a group of at least six other people joined the fight and assaulted the victims, according to the report.

The 35-year-old victim suffered severe facial wounds, a swollen left eye and a broken nose. The suspects left the rec center after the brawl. There have been no arrests.
