EARLIER REPORT

The victim told police she was sleeping at a female friend’s home early Wednesday when a man tried to wake her. He was seeking sexual relations, she said.

An argument started after the victim refused, which led another man and women to get involved. The trio grabbed the victim and moved her to another bedroom, where she was threatened and assaulted in an attempt to compel her to comply with sex acts, according to police.

When the suspects tried to move the woman to another location, she was able to get free and outrun her assailants, police said.

The suspects immediately fled and remain at large. The two men involved have not been identified.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the incident is urged to call Sidney police at 937-498-2351 or Crime Stoppers at 937-492-8477 (TIPS).

Good Samaritan helps victim

Around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, investigators removed bags of evidence from a home in the 500 block of North Main Street. Police were dispatched to the home around 7:30 a.m. after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a female bleeding and desperate for help.

Capt. Jerry Tangeman said the woman was seen running down the street by a woman who works at a nearby store.

A good Samaritan called police and stayed with the woman until officers arrived. She told WHIO’s Steve Baker that she saw the woman running down the sidewalk, waving her arms and bleeding heavily.

The good Samaritan said the woman had a visible gash in her head and she was missing some front teeth, injuries from an apparent assault. She said the victim told her she was beaten after rejecting the advances of a man at the house.

The victim, who according to Tangeman is from the area but not Shelby County, was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
