No students aboard when car sideswipes Bethel Local Schools bus

UPDATE @ 4:35 p.m.

A Bethel Local Schools bus driver had just finished her route Monday afternoon and was headed north on state Route 201 when a car headed east on Ross Road ran a stop sign and sideswiped the bus, Superintendent Justin Firks said.

“There were no students on the bus, thankfully. The bus driver was OK as well,” he said.

The two people in the car involved in the crash that happened around 3:40 p.m. were taken to a local hospital, but Firks said he was told they did not suffer any serious injuries.

The bus driver was taken to an urgent care facility to be checked out for precautionary reasons, Firks said.

“We’re just thankful everybody is OK.”

FIRST REPORT

Deputies are investigating a crash that involves a school bus on state Route 201 in Bethel Twp., Miami County, according to dispatchers.

The crash was reported on state Route 201 at the intersection with Ross Road around 3:40 p.m., according to initial reports.

Medics were requested to the scene however the severity of the injuries were not known.

It was not clear if any students were on the bus.
