Springfield firefighters knock down Madison Avenue house fire

No injures were reported in a East Madison Avenue house fire in Springfield Thursday morning, according to the fire department.

Fire crews were dispatched to the 200 block of East Madison Avenue around 7 a.m. after receiving multiple reports of heavy smoke coming from the back house, according to fire scanner traffic.

A fire was extinguished at the two-story house. It is not immediately known if anyone is living at the home.

Crews remain on the scene and are working on hot spots, according to the fire department.
