3 kayakers rescued from Mad River in Clark County

UPDATE @ 5:05 p.m.

Three kayakers were rescued from the Mad River this afternoon after a motorist on Interstate 70 spotted them in the water.

It initially was reported that two people were rescued, but there were three people pulled out of the water by Bethel Twp. fire crews, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The motorist called dispatch around 4:20 p.m. to report the incident.

There is no word of any injuries.

FIRST REPORT

Crews rescued two kayakers this afternoon from the Mad River.

They were rescued around 4:45 p.m. by the Bethel Twp. Fire Department, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

They were rescued in the river near Interstate 70.

It is not clear how they ended up in the water.

Two kayaks remain floating down the river without anyone aboard.
