Kettering Chipotle will be relocating

KETTERING — The Chipotle Mexican Grill at 3910 Far Hills Ave. will close in October, according to Chris Arnold, spokesman for the Colorado-based restaurant.

“The location at 3910 Far Hills will be replaced by a location at 4311 Far Hills Ave. All of this is tentatively slated for October,” Arnold said June 25.

The new Chipotle, which also is scheduled to open in October, is being built less than a mile away from the closing restaurant. The new restaurant is being built inside the Charlotte Gardens Shopping Center in the 4300 block of Far Hills Avenue.

In February, City Planner Ron Hundt said the restaurant will be located at the south side of the lot and across the driveway from the building that will hold the new Dewey’s Pizza restaurant.

Charlotte Gardens, which is owned by Charlotte’s Garden LLC, is bordered by Far Hills Avenue, which is on the east of the shopping center, and Marchester Drive on the north. “Decisions to relocate restaurants are generally made because we’ve found a better space within the same trade area (in terms of rental rates, size, access and visibility),” Arnold said.

The 25 employees from the closing restaurant will move to the new location. Arnold didn’t know if the new location would be hiring additional workers.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is based in Denver, Colo., and opened its first restaurant in 1993.
