The project, occurring between East Stroop and Marshall Roads, includes installing new streetlights and trees, according to city officials.

It will also involve a new pedestrian pathway to improve bike path connections and walking entry to businesses.

Construction should last about four months and have minimal traffic impact, according to city officials.

This is the third major upgrade to Wilmington Pike in the past five years. A $3 million project went underway in 2012 and last year several turn lanes were widened.

City officials plan to meet with the contractor next week to review the final details of the renovation.
