Kettering Medical Center treated its first patient who tested positive for the coronavirus.

The hospital announced Wednesday night that the patient came in on Saturday and was discharged in good condition on Sunday.

A test for COVID-19 came back positive on Wednesday, said Elizabeth Long, communications manager.

The patient was a man in his early 60s. Hospital staff met him outside the emergency department and escorted him directly to a negative pressure room to avoid exposure to anyone in the emergency department, according to a release from Kettering Health Network.

After the man spent one night in the negative pressure room, he was discharged and ordered to self-isolate.

The health network is expected to provide further details about its handling of the case during a Thursday morning press conference.
