Kim and Kelley Deal picked for hall of fame

Performing arts to take center stage

The Huber Heights Performing Arts Hall of Fame will welcome its first group of honorees in a program scheduled for Feb. 13.

The names of those to be inducted were announced Dec. 17.

Efforts to establish the hall of fame at the Wayne High School Performing Arts Center have been under way since late 2014.

Nominations were requested and a committee formed to review them and make selections for induction. Among suggested nominees would be professional theater artists, musicians, entertainers; composers and playwrights; TV/radio voices; music or theater educators; musicologists; congregational musicians and liturgical artists; and community members who have contributed significantly to productions.

Members of the initial hall of fame class are:

Dallas Barnett — Actor and voice-over performer

Kelley Deal — Member of the rock band The Breeders

Kim Deal — Member of the rock band The Breeders

Basil Fett — Wayne High School choir director, retired

Jim McCutcheon — Miami Valley guitarist and educator

Jeanette Popp — Choreographer for students and Dayton Dragons entertainment

Jerry Seiple — Wayne High School drama director, retired

Richard G. Wiggenhorn — Wayne High School band director and supervisor of music, retired

Members of the hall of fame board of directors are David Thomas, president; Andy Fehrenbach, vice president; Lyle Whybrew, secretary; Lois Schneider, treasurer; and Tanya Best and Missy Green, members at large.
