Large shelter at Millikin Woods, 2 other structures burn

City firefighters responded to three blazes in the past day.

The first was around 5 p.m. Tuesday at the large shelter house in Millikin Woods Park.

The shelter was engulfed and the frame sections already destroyed when firefighters arrived.

Another fire happened at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday in a garage next to the parking lot of Wendy’s restaurant on High Street. The garage was also engulfed and fire spread to nearby phone poles and wires.

A third fire occurred around 2 a.m. today at 329 11th St., near Buckeye Street. No one was home at the time of the fire that occurred on the second floor.

There were no injuries at any of the fires, and all three are under investigation.
