Ragamala Dance to be performed at Miami

Artistic directors Ranee and Aparna Ramaswamy bring Ragamala Dance: Sacred Earth to Miami University at 7:30 p.m. April 1 at Hall Auditorium, in a performance in which Ragamala dances the ancient Indian temple art form, Bharatanatyam, against a vivid backdrop of painted prayers of Warli paintings, on a stage covered with ephemeral Kolam rice flour drawings.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $17 for senior citizens, and $6 for students and youths.

Nominations taken for educator award

Applications for the “All Educators Awards” are being accepted by the Altrusa International of Hamilton, Ohio.

The Altrusa Club is asking students, parents and residents of Butler County to nominate an outstanding teacher who goes above and beyond the norm for his/her students — someone who encourages, challenges and stimulates the student to excel.

All teachers in the Butler County area, from K-12, Sunday School, librarians, etc., who teach children may be nominated.

Applications have been distributed to all schools in Butler County.
