On May 12, Lt. Gov. Jon Husted announced the state would allow the reopening of tattoo shops on May 15, and for many who have had do without getting new ink for the past few months, this announcement signified a partial return to normalcy. However, due to the nature of this service, many may wonder just how safe it is to receive a tattoo during the pandemic.

According to many local tattoo artists who say they are now in compliance with the Responsible Restart Ohio guidelines handed down by the state and local health officials, this service is completely safe for those who follow protocols. From wearing a face mask to only allowing one customer per tattoo artist in the shop at a time, these protocols are designed to keep all clients safe and secure while attempting to restore normal routines, such as obtaining the occasional tattoo.

Though this list is by no means comprehensive, it does give readers a glimpse into which tattoo shops in the Miami Valley have reopened or that are reopening, along with some of the protocols they are putting into place to protect the health and well-being of their clients.
