A grand jury indicted a Fairborn man accused of shooting a Fairborn police officer before being arrested after a nearly seven-hour standoff earlier this month.

Luke Easterday, 18, faces charges of attempted aggravated murder, attempted murder and three counts of felonious assault, according to the secret indictment filed late last week.

Easterday is accused of shooting Sgt. Bill Titley in the arm after police responded to Easterday’s Archer Drive home. Titley was treated and released from the hospital.

The incident started just before 10:30 p.m. last Tuesday as officers were responding to a report of shots fired at the home, Sgt. Mark Stannard said.  As officers were approaching the house, Easterday, who was inside the house is said to have fired a shot, striking the officer, Stannard said.

About 2:30 a.m. police shot tear gas into the home, and entered about 5 a.m., taking Easterday into custody, Stannard said, noting that there were no additional injuries.
