Man arrested after throwing apple at girlfriend

A man was arrested on Saturday night after police say he assaulted his girlfriend with a piece of fruit.

Carlton Toles, 50, of Dayton, was taken to jail after an argument escalated, leading him to throw an apple at his girlfriend's head.

Officers were sent to an apartment in the 600 block of Hall Avenue just after 11 p.m. on a reported domestic dispute.

The victim, a 49-year-old woman, told investigators she was arguing with Toles when he choked her and threw her onto the floor. She then said Toles left the home for a while before coming back and throwing an apple at her, which hit her in the face.

Police noted she still had "apple residue" near her eye and there were "pieces of apples" in two rooms. The woman refused medical treatment despite complaining of pain.

Toles was taken to Montgomery County Jail where he faces a charge of domestic violence. He currently has a $10,000 bond.
