Man pronounced dead at scene of Dayton crash identified

UPDATE @ 3:55 p.m.  (Nov. 17):

The 64-year-old man that was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-car crash Friday night on Wilmington Avenue has been identified as Paul Emrick Jr. of Dayton, according to the Montgomery County Coroner Office.

UPDATE @ 9:05 p.m.

A 64-year-old man involved in a single-vehicle crash tonight was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was traveling south on Wilmington Avenue near Rivard Place when he went off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

The man possibly suffered a medical issue that led to the crash, police said.

Witnesses said the victim was slumped over when he hit the tree, and that there was no braking before the impact.

The driver’s cause of death is under investigation by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of family.

A man was pronounced dead tonight at the scene of a single-vehicle crash.

The crash was reported at 7:25 p.m. on Wilmington Avenue near Rivard Place in Dayton. Wilmington Avenue is closed at Wayne Avenue.

According to initial reports, the vehicle, possibly a van, crashed into a tree.

A Montgomery County Coroner’s investigator was called to the scene, police said.
