Two of the new Marco’s shops will offer seating — a departure for a chain that has focused primarily on carryout and delivery at its other Dayton-area pizza shops.
Here are the locations and details of the new Marco’s shops:
• 2400 S. Smithville Road near the Wilmington Pike split in Kettering, in 1,500 square feet of space that previously held a portion of a Blockbuster Video store. The pizza shop will employ 18 to 22 and will focus on carryout and delivery. “We’re hoping to be open the first week of November,” Brandon Smith, vice president of operations for the store’s franchisee, told DDN. A nearby Marco’s location in the Breitenstrater Square Shopping Center on Patterson Road shut down in early August, in part to make way for a Save-A-Lot grocery store that is under construction there, Smith said.
• 3989 Col. Glenn Highway in Beavercreek. The 2,750-square-foot location near Wright State University will employ about 25, and will include seating for up to 36, Smith told DDN. “This is our first real dive into sit-down dining,” Smith said. The restaurant could open as early as the first week of December.
• 5001 Brandt Pike (Ohio 201) in Huber Heights, in 2,000 square feet of space that formerly held a United Dairy Farmers store. The new restaurant will employ about 30 and will seat about 28, and is projected to open in late November or early December, according to its franchise owner, Mike Bassini.
