3-month-old killed, 4 others injured in Springfield crash identified

Christina Crim remains in critical condition after the fatal two-vehicle crash Sunday at the intersection of West Jefferson and South Shaffer streets in Springfield, according to a Miami Valley Hospital representative.

Krystal Crim was listed in fair condition at Miami Valley Hospital.

An updated condition of Deangelo Parsley was not yet made available from Dayton Children’s Hospital.

Krystal Crim was driving north on South Shaffer Street when another vehicle traveling west on West Jefferson Street struck her passenger side vehicle, police said.

Three-month-old Jameson Crim died at the scene, according to a release.

UPDATE @ 1:20 p.m. (April 2):

Police have identified the 3-month-old killed and four others who were injured in a crash in Springfield on Easter Sunday.

All the victims are Springfield residents.

Three-month-old Jameson Crim was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to a media release from the Springfield Police Division.

Two others in their vehicle, identified as Krystal Crim, 48, and Christina Crim, 28, were flown to Miami Valley Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Deangelo Parsley, 6, was flown to Dayton Children’s Hospital, but his condition was not released by police.

Damarion Parsley, 8, was also injured and was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center, police said.

Police said Krystal Crim was driving north on South Shaffer Street when her vehicle was hit on the passenger side by a vehicle traveling west on West Jefferson Street around 2:25 p.m. Sunday.

The driver of the other vehicle, identified as Neil Segovia, 30, was not injured.

Police said no citations have been issued yet and the crash remains under investigation.

UPDATE @ 10:33 a.m. (April 2):

A 3-month-old baby was killed in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of West Jefferson and South Shaffer streets Sunday, according to Springfield police.

Police are still investigating whether the baby was in a child safety seat, officials said.

INITIAL REPORT:

A traffic investigation team was called to the scene of a fatal two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon at the intersection of West Jefferson and South Shaffer streets in Springfield.

All of the injuries, including one fatality, were to the five occupants of a red Honda Accord that was struck by a gray Jaguar around 2:45 p.m. Four people were flown to area hospitals.

The red Honda was traveling on Shaffer when its driver crossed in front of a gray Jaguar headed on Jefferson Street. The Jaguar was speeding when it struck the Honda, Springfield police said.

The driver fled the crash scene, but later returned. He was detained but not under arrest, Montico said.

Earlier it was reported there were four people riding in the Jaguar, but that number is not certain, Springfield police Sgt. Jerry Montico said.

“The occupants of the Jaguar, all except for who we believe to be the driver, have fled,” he said.

Possible causes of the crash, including speed and alcohol, have not been ruled out.

There is no information on the names, ages and conditions of the victims taken to area hospitals, and the name of the person killed also has not been released.
