Miami County now at six deaths, 46 cases from nursing home coronavirus outbreak

Public health officials in Miami County today reported the fifth and sixth deaths associated from COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus.

Both people who died lived at nursing homes where the virus has spread to residents and workers.

The two who died were an 85-year-old man who lived at SpringMeade Health Center in Tipp City and an 85-year-old woman who lived at Koester Pavilion in Troy.

State officials now say Miami County has 46 positive COVID-19 cases and 16 hospitalizations.

Of the 46 cases, 22 are women and 24 are men.

Miami County Public Health encouraged people to stay at home and follow social distancing guidelines to slow the spread of the virus.

For those who develop COVID-19 symptoms, health officials suggest calling your health care provider first. For mild symptoms, stay at home and treat yourself. For more severe symptoms, seek medical attention.
