OXFORD — Miami University’s Farmer School of Business received accreditation renewal from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB international) and also maintained its AACSB accreditation in the school’s accountancy program, Miami announced in a news release. “The AACSB team that performed the accreditation review and assessment was impressed by the strength of our program and the enthusiasm of our faculty and students,” said Farmer School Dean Roger L. Jenkins. “They were equally impressed with our undergraduate and graduate accountancy programs.” Before its review by a team from peer institutions, a business school must undertake a rigorous self-evaluation and provide the report from that effort to AACSB. Feedback from the evaluating team indicated that the Farmer School’s strengths lay in its “strong commitment to curriculum development.” The school also was commended for significant growth in international programs, large number of active student organizations, state-of-the-art facilities and strong corporate partnerships – as demonstrated through involvement of executives in student learning, a large number of student internships and the successful Executive Speakers Series. A major theme of the AACSB feedback was the quality of the faculty and students at the Farmer School. “The Farmer School has an engaged and enthusiastic business faculty focused on teaching as its primary mission,” the report stated. “The students are devoted to the school and enthusiastic about their educational experience.” AACSB accreditation is valid for five years. AACSB International is a global, nonprofit membership organization of educational institutions, businesses and other entities devoted to the advancement of management education. Currently, 620 schools of business in 38 countries hold AACSB accreditation.
