It has reached a whopping 61 million people and earned nearly 1.4 million likes and 500,000 shares since their auntie Michelle Steuer of the Fort Knox, Ky. area emailed it to us Friday.
Bill Stump Jr., the twins’ father, said the response from friends and strangers has been amazing.
“People we don’t even know are coming up and saying ‘are those the twins on the Dayton Daily News’ (Facebook) site,” he said. “I’ve gotten calls from friends who live in other states that say ‘I saw your kids’ picture on the Dayton Daily News’ Facebook page.”
In addition, photos of the tots have appeared on sites like Reddit. They were retweeted more than 25,000 times from the Tweet Like A Girl Twitter account after Stump's cousin Lexee Hayes posted it to her account.
Stump and his family recently moved to Bellbrook from Kettering. He said the idea for the Halloween costume came from his wife, Amber.
His dad, Bill Stump Sr., created the walkers used in the costume using old Rollerblade wheels, PVC pipes and tennis balls.
“Every old person has tennis balls on the wheel on their walker,” Stump joked.
The family used candy to get the kids to go along with their “Benjamin Button” treatment, which included makeup and old fashioned-looking clothes.
“We were feeding them Nerds,” Bill Stump Jr. said. “You basically had to entice them with sweets.”
