Garage sale signs may not be placed in the right-of-way, typically no closer than 10 feet from the curb. Residents are permitted to have two additional garage sales per year. Residents are required to register those additional sales with the planning and building department.

Free shredding event today
The city of Oakwood will provide free shredding services to residents from 8 to 11 a.m. today at the J.D. Foell Public Works Center, 210 Shafor Blvd. Shred-it will be on site to to provide document destruction services.
Besides paper products, Shred-It can destroy microfilm, microfiche, CD Rom diskettes and other secure or confidential material. Material will be destroyed beyond recognition on site and, if recyclable, will be baled and shipped to paper mills to be manufactured into new paper products. Any non-recyclable material processed will be disposed of in a secure location.

More than 1,000 rowers to compete at Island MetroPark
The Greater Dayton Rowing Association will host its 16th annual Charlie Doyle Memorial Regatta at Island MetroPark today. Racing will begin after the opening celebrations at 9 a.m. and will conclude around 4 p.m.
More than 1,000 athletes will descend onto the Great Miami River with more than 250 boats. Competitors will range from high school and collegiate competitors to masters teams from the tri-state area.
Food and merchandise vendors will be at the event.
Parking is free and available on North Bend Road, running atop the levy by the Kettering Ball Fields.

The third annual Seed and Perennial Plant Swap is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Huber Heights library, 6160 Chambersburg Road. The program is free.
Participants should bring favorite plants and open-pollinated seeds, labeled and ready to swap.

Condiment Convention set for Sunday
Condiment Convention, a festival showcasing local restaurants’ gourmet sauces, dips and spreads, will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Yellow Cab, 700 E. 4th St., Dayton.
Attendees will be given a box full of pulled pork and chicken, chips, fresh veggies and bread with which they can try up to 10 sauces and toppings. Votes will be taken to determine Dayton’s Sauce Master. .
