Moraine asking county to stop taking waste to odor-causing landfill

Moraine is asking Montgomery County to stop taking waste to a Dayton landfill officials say is the source of odors affecting suburbs.

Moraine City Manager David Hicks said he recently asked the Montgomery County Solid Waste District to stop accepting waste at the Stony Hollow Landfill in Dayton until odor issues there are resolved.

The odors from the Gettysburg Road facility have caused Kettering and West Carrollton residents to complain to Moraine, Hicks said.

Stony Hollow has been the source of more than 170 complaints by Moraine residents since early June, according to that city.
