MIDDLETOWN — More than 50 Middletown City Schools employees have announced their intentions to retire.

Board of Education members are expected to formally approve the retirements at a June 6 meeting.

According to district spokeswoman Debbie Alberico, most accepted the early retirement incentives offered by the district.

The community is invited to recognize retirees at a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday in Middletown High School’s cafeteria.

Light refreshments will be served at 4 p.m. with a program to follow.
