2 people killed in crash south of Cedarville identified

UPDATE @ 5:10 p.m.:

Two people died as a result of injuries from a late-morning crash Saturday on Ohio 72 just south of Cedarville, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Xenia Post.

The crash killed a 90-year-old man at the scene, and a 66-year-old woman was pronounced dead later at Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia, according to a report from troopers.

Both of the people killed were in a vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign, troopers reported.

The accident happened about 11 a.m. at the Ohio 72 junction with Federal Road about 2½ miles south of Cedarville in eastern Greene County.

Marla J. Everhart, 66, of Cedarville, was driving a gold 2007 Kia eastbound on Federal Road when she failed to yield at the intersection, the patrol report said. Everhart's vehicle struck a white 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Hunter D. Grim, 19, who was northbound on Ohio 72.

Lamarr T. Hamman, 90, of Cedarville, was the passenger in the Kia and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sgt. John Chesser of the patrol.

Grim and his passenger, Sara Lynn Givens, 19, were both taken to Greene Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Everhart also was taken to Greene Memorial, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

Grim and Givens were treated and released from the hospital.
