The fire chief on scene told WHIO 12 apartments are uninhabitable, leaving several displaced.
Crews are still investigating the cause of the fire that is said to have predominantly effected the east side of the complex.
There is currently no monetary damage estimate.

Crews are on scene of an apartment fire reported around 1 a.m. in the 900 block of South Alex Road in West Carrollton.

Initial reports indicate there was smoke visible from the attic.
West Carrollton, Dayton and Centerville departments are said to have responded to the fire.
WHIO's crew on scene reports the fire appears to have since been knocked down.
We are working to learn the condition of both the building and its residents.
