Randall Aniton, 63, has been charged with murder and two counts of felonious assault after he initially told police it was a home invasion.
Myron Taylor, 53, of Dayton, was shot and killed around 12:35 p.m. in the 5400 block of Northford Road in Trotwood.
Randall Aniton called 911 to report that he had shot an intruder, later identified as Taylor, because the man was trying to enter his home.

Trotwood Police Chief Erik Wilson said on Monday afternoon the investigation is ongoing and sought to quell suspicion that the shooting was as a home invasion.

“It wasn’t a case of a home invasion. They were friends,” he said. “I spoke with detectives that are on the case and they said the investigation is proceeding. The shooter is in custody.”
Prosecutors on Monday approved a murder charge and two counts of felonious assault for Aniton, according to information obtained from the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.
Aniton is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday. No attorney has been listed for him, according to court records.
