The Montgomery County project calls for replacing the 165-foot bridge over Holes Creek and resurfacing Lamme, ODOT records show.
The bridge “is both structurally deficient and functionally obsolete,” according to ODOT. “All components of the bridge are deteriorating: deck, beams and abutments. The bridge has no raised sidewalks.”

The new bridge will be 22 feet longer and 12 feet wider, with six-foot raised sidewalks on both sides, increasing pedestrian safety, ODOT said.
The project, expected to take nine months, would require a detour the Greater Dayton RTA Route 19. Three stops on Lamme — Crew Circle, Belle Isle and Polo Park — and two stops on Alex-Bell — Cobblegate and Meier — will be closed during the bridge replacement, according to ODOT.
The county will work with the RTA to alert users to the shifts in stop locations during construction, officials said.
The project would also call for replacing the traffic signal at the intersection of Lamme and Alex-Bell. It would also entail replacing deteriorated sections of curb and sidewalk along the east side of Lamme south of the creek and along the north side of Alex-Bell, records show.

Temporary and permanent utility relocations may be required, and utility coordination will be completed prior to the start of construction, according to ODOT.
The project will be constructed with federal and local funds, according to ODOT. Environmental clearance is scheduled for Oct. 1, 2020, with bids awarded in December 2022.
Comments should be submitted by Feb. 28, 2020, ODOT officials said.
