The new Southeast Branch of the Dayton Metro Library opened Saturday, merging the former Belmont and East Branch locations under one roof.

A ribbon cutting took place to officially open the new branch located at 21 Watervliet Ave. Saturday.

"The new Southeast Branch Library will be a landmark for the residents of southeast Dayton," said Tim Kambitsch, Executive Director. "With new and expanded services and more than twice the space, it will more than replace the aging facilities that housed the two smaller branches."

Staff from both the East and Belmont Branch Libraries will work at the new Southeast Branch.

"We are all eager to work together serving our community in this wonderful, state of the art facility," said Southeast Branch Manager Mark Roma. "It's an exciting time for all of us, and we think our patrons will be very pleased."

The project is part of the Libraries for a Smarter Future plan, made possible by Montgomery County voter support of a bond issue in 2012.
