The city of Vandalia Division of Police has sworn in the newest lieutenant for the department.

Ben Walker replaces Kurt Althouse, who was promoted to chief earlier this year.

Walker has served the division of police for 16 years. Walker’s last position was sergeant. He was sworn in at a gathering Wednesday morning at the city building on James Bohanan Drive.

He is a Vandalia-Butler graduate and lives in the city with his wife, Amanda, and his two daughters, Natalie and Hannah.
