Oakwood lingerie, bedding store wins national award

Whispers Home, a fine linens and lingerie boutique in the Shops of Oakwood, this month won an Italian trade organization’s award as best lingerie “concept store” in the United States.

The Best of Intima group, supported by 15 lingerie brands from around the world, sponsors the Best Shop Awards to honor and discover the nation’s best independent retailers. This year, 151 stores were nominated, and 25 finalists were selected, including Whispers Home.

At the awards ceremony Aug. 1 in New York City, Josie Natori, founder and CEO of the Natori brand, presented the handmade glass award to Judy Wyatt, who has owned Whispers Home since 2001.

“My personable and knowledgeable staff works very hard every day to provide the best service to our many loyal customers,” Wyatt said. “They are the reason for this wonderful award.”

Since the award’s inception in 2004, Whispers has been a nominee every year and a finalist in 2004, 2006 and 2008.

Whispers aims to pair fine lingerie, linens and gift items with great service. The store offers professional bra fittings for sizes 30AA to 44H, plus bridal and gift registries, free ground shipping and complimentary gift wrap. Whispers has a Frequent Feather Club, rewarding customers with a free bra after the purchase of six, plus a donation program for gently used bras.
