Deangela Ciera Jones, 32, was booked in the Montgomery County Jail around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday on a preliminary charge of murder, jail records indicate.

Jones is one of three women deputies talked to when they arrived at the scene of the shooting in the 1900 block of Palisades Drive around 1 a.m., according to the incident report.

Jones first told deputies a man shot Jeniqua L. Morrow, 25, of Dayton, before running into a wooded area, the report says.

Deputies and a K9 officer searched a wooded area but didn’t find a suspect or weapon, deputies indicate in the report.

One of the other women said the Morrow showed up at Jones’ apartment while they were all drinking. That witness heard a gunshot after Morrow went upstairs, and found her suffering from a gunshot wound.

Jones was detained at the scene and later transported by detectives to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, where she was later arrested, according to the report and jail records.
