“This decision was made out of an abundance of caution based on current guidelines and recommendations established by public health, county, and state officials,” the sheriff’s office said in a release.

The Montgomery County Combined Agency OVI Task Force and Sheriff's Office will carry out an OVI sobriety check point next week that will go hand in hand with St. Patrick's Day.

In 2019, there were 13,129 traffic collisions in Montgomery County.
42 of these crashes were fatal, causing the death of 53 people.
Of these 42 crashes, 24 involved a driver who was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
These 24 crashes ended the lives of 30 people.
The goal of this OVI check point is to identify and remove impaired drivers from the roadway to prevent fatal crashes like these.
