Now’s your chance to own a piece of Dayton art history.

The Dayton Art Institute is taking pre-orders for a reproduction of “Joy of the Waters”.

The bronze sculpture, created by Harriet Frishmuth, is the first piece added to the Dayton Art Institute collection in 1919.

The sculpture was a gift from Julia Shaw Carnell, the founder of the museum, and was first placed at the original museum site on Monument Avenue.

In 1930 it was moved to the present site of the DAI and placed in an outdoor fountain. In 2006, the proceeds from Art Ball were used for conservation of the artwork.

The reproduction has been cast and finished by hand by Museum Masterworks and was a year in the making, according to the DAI. It stands 13-inches tall and will sell for $129.

During the current special pre-order opportunity, it can be purchased for $110. The discounted pre-order pricing is only available through July 15.

Each purchase helps support the Dayton Art Institute. The sculpture can be ordered here.
