Person wanted who chased homicide suspect

Homicide detectives are seeking someone they called a "good Samaritian" who possibly ran after a shooter on Rosedale Avenue earlier this week.

Officers were dispatched Monday morning to Rosedale Avenue and West Riverview Drive after getting reports of the shooting around 10:30 a.m. The victim, identified by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office as 18-year-old Alvante Pitts, was shot in the chest. He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

The shooter was described as a black male wearing a grey jacket with jeans and fled on foot. So far, no one was been arrested.

Police would like the person who possibly chased the suspect to call them. The number is (937) 333-COPS.
