Police ask for help identifying laundromat thieves

FRANKLIN — Police are hoping someone can help them identify a man and a woman who broke into a change machine at a local laundromat Tuesday, Oct. 19, fleeing with an unknown amount of cash.

Detective Scott Brown, of the Franklin Police Department, said authorities have video footage of the suspects using “some type of tool” to break into a change machine at Lanecrest Laundry, 50 Millard Dr.

Brown said a white male and white female entered the laundromat about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday and washed a load of clothes. He said the couple left briefly before returning about 9:54 p.m. when they proceeded to pry open a change machine.

The suspects took an undetermined amount of money and fled the business in a dark-colored vehicle, Brown said. The detective said police are reviewing video tape footage from a camera inside the laundromat to try to identify the thieves.

Brown said he’s hoping someone from the community might recognize them.

“Once they see this video, someone might be able to tell us who they are,” Brown said.

No further information is available at this time, police said.
