She said the man was her friend, but he was not supposed to be there because he was “drunk.”

“Get somebody over here please,” she said to the dispatcher.

The second time she called 911 she asked for an ambulance.

“Somebody’s been shot,” she said. “I need someone down here.”

In addition to the woman, an alarm company also contacted emergency dispatchers and asked for police to be sent to the Fairview Avenue home.

The woman affiliated with the alarm company told the dispatcher a silent panic alarm in the home had been activated.

“All she said was send someone over there right away because there was someone in her house,” said the woman affiliated with the alarm company.

The company also received an alert about the front door burglary alarm.

UPDATE @12:56 a.m.

A East Fairview Avenue resident shot and killed a man who tried to enter her home Tuesday evening, according to Dayton police.

Police had been searching for the man in connection to “serious crimes” he committed on Monday, said Dayton Police Sgt. John Riegel.

According to police, the deceased man and the shooter knew each other. The woman was the victim of a previous alleged crime allegedly committed by the deceased man.

The suspect returned to the area on Tuesday, and attempted to make contact with the woman who lives on East Fairview Avenue, according to police.

“It appears that the subject, who was a suspect in the crime last night, tried to make entry into her house and when he did make entry, she used a firearm to protect herself and her life and she shot him,” Riegel said.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol are a factor.

The deceased man is in his 50s or 60s, according to police.

The identities of the resident and the deceased man have not been released.
