The preliminary investigation reveals a confrontation outside the rear of the store occurred about 2:12 p.m. and one of the people involved fired a handgun toward the other person leaving the dust-up at high speed, the chief said.
Reports of a possible active shooter at the Walmart prompted a large police response from Piqua, the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Troy Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Lockdowns were put into place at several schools near the store, Chief Jamison said, including Piqua City Schools (high school and junior high), Upper Valley Career Center and Edison State Community College.

No one was hit by the gunfire. No injuries were reported.

The chief said police are still working to determine descriptions of vehicles and people involved in the incident.
Monday evening, the police department released photos of the men and the vehicles believed to have been involved.
