The pursuit started because a Dayton police officer patrolling on Gettysburg Avenue recognized the car, which was used in an armed robbery at the beginning of this month, said Dayton police spokesman Sgt. Doug George.

The pursuit, which reached about 70 mph, lasted a short time when the officer lost sight of the vehicle, George said. It was found a short time later on Denlinger Road in Trotwood, and it’d crashed into the tree. The driver fled the scene, George said.
Officers searched the area using a K9, but did not find the suspect.
