The second group gathered outside the Dayton Police Department around 6 p.m. and marched into downtown, then headed toward the Montgomery County Jail.

Across the country and in the Miami Valley, people have been staging protests and marches following the death of Floyd, an unarmed black man who died Memorial Day in police custody in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Dayton police accompanied the marchers and blocked streets for the protesters’ safety, police posted on social media.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the group was headed back toward their starting point at the Dublin Pub.
