Rain, storms today to dry out by nightfall for sunny weekend

Today, we will have a chance of showers with a slight chance of storms beginning in the early hours of this morning, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

The chances of a thunderstorm will remain into this evening, but rain chances will rise rapidly after noon, before tapering off to near zero by nightfall. Overnight it will be partly cloudy but dry.

High temperatures will rise to around 76 degrees, then fall to around 53 degrees tonight.

Tomorrow, the forecast calls for a break in the rain with mostly sunny skies, becoming partly cloudy overnight. Temperatures will rise to near 72 degrees during the day, and fall to around 51 degrees overnight.

Sunday will also be clear and cooler, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 70 degrees, dropping to around 48 degrees overnight.
