Rave buys four movie theater locations

Three Dayton-area locations plus Kings Island included in sale

Rave Motion Pictures confirmed it will purchase up to 35 theaters from National Amusements, including the Showcase Cinema in Mason and three Dayton area theaters.

Jeremy Devine, a spokesman for Dallas-based Rave Motion Pictures, said the company has already acquired 29 National Amusements theaters, including the Mason theater on Kings Island Drive, Cinema De Lux at the Greene in Beavercreek, Dayton South in West Carrollton and the Showcase Cinema in Huber Heights.

After all of the properties are acquired, Rave will own or manage 65 theaters and approximately 1,000 screens in 20 states, the company said.

Devine said he could not divulge the price tag on the theater purchases and said it is too soon to tell when movie-goers might notice a change to the theaters.

Gift cards will be accepted no matter when they were purchased, according to Devine.

“At some point there may be some changing of labeling or something like that, but none of that is being addressed now,” Devine said. “We want to have a good seamless transition for consumers.”

Rave Motion Pictures’ West Chester 18 opened in the Union Centre Boulevard area in West Chester Twp. in June 2003.

National Amusements declined comment on the purchases.
